WHO WE ARE

Officials Academy is an online aid to help train basketball officials, and soon to be other major sports, for all ages and genders.

What differentiates us from other online officiating courses?

Our course is interactive. We rely heavily on animations alongside text, rather than a traditional course of reading as the primary learning method. Through this, new officials and those new to 3-person will have an easier learning curve of the basic mechanics necessary to get started through animated visualization of positioning, posture, coverage area, etc. and WHY!

Animated
Training

With 65% of people being visual learners, animated training capitalizes on this preference by providing dynamic visual content. The human brain processes visual animation a staggering 60,000 times faster than text. This means that athletes undergoing animated training can grasp concepts quicker and retain information more effectively compared to traditional reading materials.

Studies support the idea that visual training is transferable to the performance of athletes. The use of visual animations not only facilitates faster learning but also enhances performance outcomes. For instance, individuals following directions illustrated through animation perform 323% better compared to those relying solely on text-based directions. This advantage translates to improved skill acquisition and execution among athletes.

VS.
Traditional
Reading Materials

Traditional reading materials rely heavily on text-based information. While some learners may excel in this format, the majority of individuals, being visual learners, may struggle to retain information effectively. In contrast to animated training, traditional reading materials lack the dynamic visuals that aid in faster comprehension and recall. Research indicates that after three days, individuals can recall only 10% – 20% of spoken words and a mere 10% of written information.

Traditional reading materials primarily rely on static text, which may not effectively translate into improved performance outcomes. While reading provides valuable theoretical knowledge, it often lacks the interactive and engaging elements necessary for optimal skill acquisition and performance enhancement, particularly in athletic contexts.
